Most of us are still in the guessing stage of what this year might look like for the kids heading or not physically heading back to school. I am a proactive person and like to stay ahead of things or at least plan a bit so that I may keep some sanity as the dates approach. So here are just a few simple things you can do to get a jump on what may be ahead.
- School Correspondence – Bookmark or make an email folder of all your children’s school correspondence so that you can easily recall it when needed. I don’t know about you, but we have been bombarded with a ton of information and I keep referring back to.
- White/Cork board -Get a white board or cork board to post up your kid’s schedule (s). This year may be complicated with ½ days, some days at school some at home and having it posted where everyone can see it clearly will help. I often color code by days or kids to so that it is easier for some to focus just on their color.
- Menus – Now is the time to start discussing lunch menus and dinners. This is one of the top things I keep hearing from others is that it seems like they are always cooking or making meals during COVID. Think easy crock-pot dinners and grab N go lunches, cooking in bulk and freezing.
- School Zone – Set up that school zone (s) if you have not already. Somewhere they can study, concentrate to get their work done successfully. Carve out a spot to have each child’s school folders color coded by subject to cut down on confusion. You could even make a DONE and TO BE COMPLETED section if you have the space to do so.

- Daily schedule – This will probably be the most complicated if you have several kids. This is true especially if space is limited and you must rotate computer usage and school zone areas.
- Resources – Bookmark free support, educational and resource sites. Below I have listed a few good sites that may be helpful. Afterall we are all in this together and need all the support we can get!
